Measures for Preventing Infections

Do not come to practice if you assume you have any type of infectious disease – go see a doctor immediately. Return to practice only when cleared by a doctor.

  1. Cover all wounds (scratches, scraps or puncture to or skin). If a wound cannot be covered adequately athletes will not be permitted to participate.
  2. Practice excellent personal hygiene. Shower after training. Use plenty of soap and scrub with a washcloth. Let the soap stay on the body for a least a minute before rinsing. Do not share towels or soap bars. Use footwear in the shower.
  3. After a shower change into clean clothes and launder your workout cloths. Do not use the same workout gear or towel twice.
  4. Only athletes dressed in clean workout gear will be allowed to train on the mats. Wash your kneepads, wrestling shoes, and headgear regularly.
  5. Limit skin exposure by wearing spandex tights and tight long sleeved shirts during training.
  6. Please keep the training areas clean. Volunteer to wash the mats with disinfectant. Mats should be cleaned everyday.
  7. Clean the soles of your wrestling shoes before you step on the mat.
  8. Do not share any personal equipment that has not been cleaned or disinfected (i.e. head gear, knee pads etc.).
  9. The wrestling room should be well ventilated, the temperature should be cool and the mats should be dry of sweat.
  10.  Do not share water bottles. Washing your hands regularly with soap throughout the day is the best way to prevent catching a flue or cold.
  11. All rashes on the skin must be examined by a doctor or coach prior to practice. Athlete must not practice if they have any contiguous rashes.

Competition Policy Information for Parents of Athletes under 14 years of age:

1.          Indicate your intention to participate at least one full week before the event. For events that require hotel reservations indicate your intention ASAP, no later than one month before the event.
 2.    Registration for each event includes a coach supervised weigh-in and skin check. This is often done at practice prior to the event.
 3.     To avoid cancellation penalty fees, please phone one of the coaches to cancel your entry. The sooner the notice the better we are at saving the costs in cancellation charges. It is a good idea to ask the main coach involved for a contact number.
 4.     Please plan to arrive early at the event and confirm your attendance with one of the coaches. Also at this time please check the posted draw sheets to see that your son/daughter is in the correct weight class and age group. You will need to arrive at least 45 minutes prior to the start of any tournament for the warm-up activity.
 5.     On overnight trips young athletes should be supervised by their parents, guardians and/or friends of the family.  The task of supervising young athletes on an overnight trip has become too laborious a task to ask of a volunteer coach. Parents should assume responsibility to arrange for supervision of their child with someone that they can trust.
 6.     Team Impact values being a good sport and putting forth the full out effort over winning. Medals and trophies eventually get lost or broken, but what an athlete will always have from their experiences in sport is what they have become. Developing young athletes with class and integrity is more important to us than developing gold medalist. Our goal is to maintain the highest level of excellence and provide for a fun learning experience for all athletes. Every athlete should be complimented for trying. There should never be any negative comments or gestures made towards anyone at any time. Please be respectful of others and try to help us maintain our excellent reputation.

7. Parents and supporters should leave the coaching to the coaches.

8. Please help us keep our participation fees low by getting involved and helping with fundraisers.
