Kidz P r a c t i c e R e q u i r e m e n t s :
Main Practice Objective:
The objective of kid’s practices is to have fun, learn wrestling skills and improve fitness. To do this we focus on creating a structured learning environment.
Practice Requirements:
To fulfill our liability requirements we request that at all participants submit the club registration package.
Please come to practice on time
There will be no practices on Statutory Holidays.
During bad weather do not put yourself in any danger and try to come to practice.
Do not come to practice if you have any infectious or contagious disease.
Please be prepared with the proper equipment needed to be able to participate: drinking water, gym shorts, t-shirt, wrestling shoes or running shoes with clean soles. Practice gear must be clean and must be washed after every workout. Please put your wrestling shoes on and off by the mat.
Any individual medical conditions that might affect training must be discussed with the coach including coping strategies.
Be respectful to your coaches and fellow athletes. Coaches should be referred to as "Mr." or "Coach". Foul or abusive language is not acceptable.
Be respectful, cooperative and participate to the best of your abilities.
Take a shower (with soap!) immediately after every workout.
For athletes new the sport, please observe a training session prior to participation. New inexperienced athletes will not be permitted to engage in full-out sparring session for a minimum of a two week period.
If at any time, during a practice you become ill or injured, inform one of the coaches at once. This is for your protection.
Wrestling shoes can be purchased at selected sporting goods stores.
Do not come to practice if you assume you have any type of infectious disease – go see a doctor immediately. Return to practice only when cleared by a doctor.
1. Indicate your intention to participate at least one full week before the event. For events that require hotel reservations indicate your intention ASAP, no later than one month before the event.
2. Registration for each event includes a coach supervised weigh-in and skin check. This is often done at practice prior to the event.
3. To avoid cancellation penalty fees, please phone one of the coaches to cancel your entry. The sooner the notice the better we are at saving the costs in cancellation charges. It is a good idea to ask the main coach involved for a contact number.
4. Please plan to arrive early at the event and confirm your attendance with one of the coaches. Also at this time please check the posted draw sheets to see that your son/daughter is in the correct weight class and age group. You will need to arrive at least 45 minutes prior to the start of any tournament for the warm-up activity.
5. On overnight trips young athletes should be supervised by their parents, guardians and/or friends of the family. The task of supervising young athletes on an overnight trip has become too laborious a task to ask of a volunteer coach. Parents should assume responsibility to arrange for supervision of their child with someone that they can trust.
6. Team Impact values being a good sport and putting forth the full out effort over winning. Medals and trophies eventually get lost or broken, but what an athlete will always have from their experiences in sport is what they have become. Developing young athletes with class and integrity is more important to us than developing gold medalist. Our goal is to maintain the highest level of excellence and provide for a fun learning experience for all athletes. Every athlete should be complimented for trying. There should never be any negative comments or gestures made towards anyone at any time. Please be respectful of others and try to help us maintain our excellent reputation.
7. Parents and supporters should leave the coaching to the coaches.
8. Please help us keep our participation fees low by getting involved and helping with fundraisers.
